The Metropolitan of Glyfada passed away

The late Metropolitan Pavlos of Glyfada

Today, Tuesday, February 19, Metropolitan Pavlos of Glyfada passed away, at the age of 76.

Metropolitan Pavlos, born Efstratios Sp. Tsaousoglou, was born in 1943 in Ermoupolis, Syros, while his father came from Smyrna.

The Metropolitan was a graduate of the Faculty of Theology of the University of Athens and of the Law School of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.

His postgraduate studies in Pastoral-Sociology and Psychology for Young People took place in the United States in the World Council of Churches (on the recommendation of the Holy Synod of the Church of Greece). He spoke English.

He held a scholarship of the Greek State and of “Yiotis” Industry for the School of Theology of the University of Athens.

He was ordained a deacon in 1966 and a priest in 1969. On 11 October 2002, he was elected Metropolitan of Glyfada by the Hierarchy of the Holy Synod of the Church of Greece, ordained on the 14th of the same month and enthroned on December 1, 2002.
