A Festive Divine Liturgy took place today, Tuesday, September 8, 2020, at the historic and miraculous Sanctuary of Panagia Gioksou (1874) on the feast of the Nativity of The Theotokos.
The Divine Liturgy was officiated by Bishop Smaragdos of Dafnousia who assisted the Metropolitan Athanasios Papas of Chalcedon.
In September, the renovation works of the Sanctuary will be completed, which is highly revered by the Greeks and in the past, today’s celebration was one of the biggest celebrations in the city.
The renovation work has been undertaken by the Board of Directors of the Community of the Divine Transfiguration in Kandilli, where the Sanctuary belongs, under the chairmanship of the Director of the Zografeion Lyceum Giannis Demirtzoglou, Archon Great Referendarius of the Great Church of Christ.
