Recruitment for 8 months of 1,000 unemployed into Metropolises of the Church of Greece

Holy Synod of the Church of Greece

The Standing Holy Synod (SHS) of the Church of Greece was attended by the Greek Minister of Interior, Takis Theodorikakos, who informed about the recruitment, for 8 months, of 1000 unemployed into Metropolises, within the framework of the public benefit work program of the Greek Manpower Employment Organization (OAED).

“Greek society would never be able to act so organized if there was no critical and responsible, decisive contribution of the Church of Greece, of you personally, of the Most Reverend Metropolitans, of all the priests. All Christians honor greatly the attitude of the Church of Greece, which, I repeat, has been excellent, responsible and has played a key role in maintaining social cohesion and solidarity. Thus, all Greeks, being faithful to our religion, we have managed to cope with this very difficult situation,” the Minister of Interior said.

The minister referred to the important contribution of the Church and especially of the Metropolises in the Attica basin and in Thessaloniki in the implementation of the feeding program of more than 60,000 of our fellow human beings who were in need.

“Your help was invaluable so that this program of the Ministry of Interior and the Local Government could be put into practice,” he said. As a souvenir of the meeting, Archbishop Ieronymos offered the Minister an icon of the Apostle Paul, founder of the Church of Greece.
