Pope Francis called on the faithful not to gossip, calling gossip worse than corona virus and saying it could be used to divide the Roman Catholic Church.
“Please, my brothers and sisters, let us make an effort not to gossip. Gossip is a worse wound than COVID-19” the pope said during his weekly speech behind a window overlooking St. Peter’s Square.
“The devil is the big gossip. He constantly says bad things about others because he is the liar who tries to divide the Church. If something goes wrong, stay silent and pray for your brother or sister who made a mistake, but never gossip,” said the pope, who has warned many times about the dangers of gossip and has also railed against trolls on the Internet.
