Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov will arrive in Cyprus late this afternoon (07/09) as part of his official visit to the country on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Cyprus and Russia.
On Tuesday morning (08/09), the Russian foreign minister will be received by the President of Cyprus, Nikos Anastasiadis. He will also meet the President of the House of Representatives, Dimitris Syllouris.
Lavrov will have a private meeting with his Cypriot counterpart Nikos Christodoulidis at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs at 11:00 p.m.
During their meeting, the two ministers are expected to discuss many issues related to the bilateral relations between Cyprus and Russia and to exchange views, inter alia, on the Cyprus issue, the situation in the Eastern Mediterranean in the light of the latest developments, EU-Russia relations as well as on regional issues.
Afterwards, Christodoulidis and Lavrov will make statements to representatives of the media at 12:30 p.m., after previously signing in a special ceremony the Consultation Program between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Cyprus and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation for 2021-2022.
Finally, after touring the photo exhibition dedicated to the 60 years of diplomatic relations between the two countries in the atrium of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Christodoulidis and Lavrov will attend a working lunch.
