Metropolitan of Aitolia rebuts claims on possible resignation

Metropolitan Kosmas of Aitolia and Akarnania rebutted claims circulating in the religious and political press regarding his possible resignation.

In an announcement issued by the Metropolis, Metropolitan Kosmas never expressed the will to resign, stating that he is consistent with all his pastoral duties and ministry to the Church.

It is noted that Metropolitan Kosmas of Aitolia and Akarnania will continue to fully perform his pastoral duties, “always responding to the needs and invitations of the faithful Christians as well as to the particular challenges of our times, either related to church or not, which require the presence of the Orthodox Church. ”

Speaking for a local television station, he said yesterday that he did not know the source and the use of these claims. However, he noted that what his main concern was “the ministry to the Lord, to the faithful Christians, and to the Holy Metropolis.”

And he went on to say that “I do not want to be a despot, but a father, a brother, a servant. This is what I believe, and this is what I try to do, regardless of whether some who are not obedient consider love to be a weakness.

I want to make clear that there would be no resignation. I will continue to be minister if this is what God wishes.

So, those who say those things should consider that it is not God’s will. I don’t care about authority – strange as it may seem – my concern is ministry.”
