Our Holy Church commemorates today New Martyr Michael Mavroudis of Adrianople. They brought him to the judge accusing him that he showed contempt for Islam.
Being aware of the saint’s honesty, the judge let him free, but the slanderers threatened to denounce him to the sultan.
The judge was frightened and then ordered to imprison the saint. At the same time, he informed the sultan of what had happened and waited for his orders. The order was clear: either to deny his faith or to be burnt alive. Despite the promises and threats, the martyr remained steadfast in his faith in Jesus Christ. He was beheaded in 1490.
