Meeting of the Standing Holy Synod concluded

The working session of the second-day meeting of the Holy Synod of the Church of Greece presided by Archbishop Ieronymos of Athens and all Greece, concluded.

The Standing Holy Synod ratified the minutes of the previous sitting and was informed about the appointment of the members of the Metropolis and Church Councils for three years beginning from January 1, 2020.

The Special Synod Committee on Cultural Identity informed the Standing Holy Synod about the following issues:

(a) The possibility for cooperation with the “Greece 2021” Committee and the head of the Committee, Gianna Angelopoulou-Daskalaki, and

(b) The organization of the 8th International Scientific Conference by the Holy Synod in the context of “1821 – 2021: 10 Scientific Conferences for the 200 years since the beginning of the Greek War of Independence.”

The central theme of the conference, which will take place on October 18-19 in the headquarters of the Holy Synod, is titled “The great figures of the Greek War of Independence: Unity and disunity during the Greek war of independence.”
