Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis

The Greek government took the decision few minutes ago, to suspend services in all areas of religious worship of any religion or dogma, until 30.3.2020.

Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis made known through a post on social media that churches will remain open only for individual prayer.

As he pointed out, “the protection of public health requires clear decisions”.

His decision came minutes after the announcement of the Standing Holy Synod of the Church of Greece, which met today at noon and for over four hours, in order to make decisions about her stance on the issue of the coronavirus. The SHS decided to suspend all worship services except Sunday Divine Liturgies, which would be held as usual between 7 and 8 o’clock in the morning.
