The Deputy Foreign Minister for Diaspora Greeks, Kostas Vlasis, held a meeting with Archbishop Damianos of Sinai, Faran and Raitho.
The deputy minister said that the Greek government supported the Saint Catherine’s Monastery in Sinai during a meeting in his office with Archbishop Damianos of Sinai, Faran and Raitho.
In an announcement issued by the Foreign Ministry, Kostas Vlasis welcomed the important work that is carried out by the fathers of Sinai, despite the difficulties they have encountered, especially in the current period, due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
In this context, they discussed ways in which the Ministry of Foreign Affairs can assist the Monastery.
On his part, the Archbishop thanked the deputy minister for the continuous interest and support of the Greek government, and underlined the importance of the Monastery’s work that is being carried out to preserve the Greek Orthodox tradition in Sinai.
In a post on Twitter, the deputy minister said that he met Archbishop Damianos of Sinai, Faran and Raitho from the historic Saint Catherine’s Monastery in Sinai that was built in the 6th century.
