Read the full encyclical of Holy Synod of the Church of Cyprus:
During these days, we witnessed the mourning, pain and despair of the long-suffering Lebanese people, caused by the deadly explosion in the port of Beirut with many dead and thousands injured and missing, as well as incalculable material damage.
We express our sympathy and love to the Church, the government and the people of Lebanon on behalf of the Christian flock of the Church of Cyprus. We wholeheartedly wish that God provides His mercy and blessings for the relief of the suffering and the repose of the souls of the dead.
In order to support our suffering brothers in Lebanon, we urge all of you to respond to our request and to willingly make your humble contribution of love by putting money on the tray. In this way, we want to express our Christian love for our suffering brothers and sisters in Christ.
We sent our wishes and the wishes of the members of the Holy Synod that God and the Theotokos may bless and strengthen you in your work.
† ARCHBISHOP CHRYSOSTOMOS OF CYPRUS
