The sixteen-page feature story on Greece will be published by the semi-annual Austrian political, economic, diplomatic, cultural and medical magazine “Society” in its new issue, July-December 2020.
The bilingual (in German and English) magazine will publish a feature on Greece accompanied by photographs, including a series of articles with references, among others, to general and historical facts about the country, its tourism, the history of the Greeks in Vienna, and the presence of Orthodoxy in the Austrian capital.
The article entitled “Greece: Antiquity meets the present” contains general information about the country, accompanied by a presentation of Greek islands, while “Living Church from Byzantium to the present” is the title of the two-page interview of the Metropolitan of Austria and Exarch of Hungary and Central Europe, Arsenios.
Another article is dedicated to the Palais Falkenstein in Vienna, which was purchased by the Greek State exactly 100 years ago (in April 1920), by order of Prime Minister Eleftherios Venizelos, and still houses the Greek embassy in Austria for a century. The article includes a relevant statement of the Greek Ambassador Aikaterini Koika.
In an article entitled “The timeless presence of the Greeks in Vienna,” a historical overview of the presence of Greek community in Vienna for more than three centuries and its impact on Vienna’s political, economic and cultural life from the 18th century until today is presented.
