Archbishop Ieronymos of Greece

In his message, Archbishop Ieronymos of Athens and all Greece described the late Archbishop of Australia as a universally respected personality.

As he points out, “I was deeply touched at the passing away of the late Archbishop Stylianos of Australia, whom I have known for many years and I have always enjoyed a a sincere brotherly relationship.”

Archbishop Ieronymos emphasized that he was a highly charismatic Hierarch, tremendous theologian, prolific scholar, inspirational pastor, courageous leader of the Church of Australia.

“He was a universally respected person of high importance. He was a figure, very beneficial to the Orthodoxy all over the world. His loss is particularly important, and time will enable his great work and his contribution to the life of our Church to be appreciated even more.

I express my heartfelt condolences to our Ecumenical Patriarchate and to the Holy Clergy and to the pious employees of the Archdiocese of Australia.

May his memory be eternal.”
