Archbishop Ieronymos: We shall overcome the difficulties

In an exclusive interview to 89,5 radio station, Archbishop Ieronymos of Athens and All Greece sent his deepest wishes to everyone, immediately after the Doxology that was held at the Metropolis of Athens in the event of the Anniversary of March 25, 1821.

Furthermore, the Archbishop stressed that we have the obligation “to remember those who fought for our country. They experienced difficulties too, but they overcame them, as exactly we shall overcome all obstacles”.

Indeed, yesterday, Archbishop Ieronymos presided the liturgy at Evagelistria’s Church, in Nafplio.

The liturgy was also held by Metropolitan Nektarios of Argolis and the Bishop Symeon of Thespies, while the master of ceremonies was the Head of the Church, father Eleutherios Michos.

Preaching the Divine Word, the Archbishop compared Virgin Mary to Eve, pointing out that the Fathers of our Church provide the answer: They are two persons that respond differently to God’s call. “Eve lived with every possible privilege in Paradise. The Snake approached and allured her and thus she lost her communion to God and got estranged, because she wished to become independent. According to the Psalmist, she stood aside bursting into tears.  Virgin Mary grew up in Nazareth, in difficult conditions. The Archangel went to her and his words were harsh. She got upset, but did not refuse. She became the bridge that would ascend man to the Skies. These two women lived in different time and place, but they are connected to our lives. They are a part of us. Virgin Mary cures illegality and opens the gates to Heaven”.

The Archbishop concluded that “each time we move away from the communion to God as our Father, not God as a revenger, but the God of Love, we are children of Eve, while each time we are close to God, we are children of Virgin Mary”.
