Archbishop Ieronymos: Our worship was injured this year

Archbishop Ieronymos of Athens

The feast of all feasts finds us totally injured this year, the world has been humiliated by an invisible particle, says Archbishop Ieronymos of Athens in his Easter message.

As he points out, the Risen Lord is projected, in an unprecedented condition for humanity, as the ultimate hope.

Today we are forced to isolate societies. “Borders are closing, we take distances in our social relations and within our homes. We are counting wounds, and unfortunately also heavy losses. Some people say that many things may change forever. It is clear that unbridled consumerism has given us no answers to the problem.”

Archbishop Ieronymos states in his message that the only way to resist the plague is human responsibility, virtue and honesty.

“Our worship was injured this year. The wonder overflows: Is Christ coming? The events seem revealing. Let us remain faithful disciples of Christ. In the joy of the Resurrection that will follow and we are already celebrating.

Christ is risen. In this difficult time with the additional difficulties, for our country, in our border, let us have hope. We applaud and pray for those who serve our homeland there and for those who are fighting the pandemic; doctors, nurses, employees in the field of Health,” the Archbishop concludes in his message.
