Patriarch Theodore of Alexandria and All Africa warmly welcomed today the Ukrainian Ambassador to Egypt, Yevhen Mykytenko, on the occasion of the event in honor of a World War II hero from Ukraine, Andrei Brockowski, who is buried at the Greek cemetery of Saint George Church in Old Cairo.

In fact, the Patriarch sent his patriarchal wishes to the Ukrainian president, shortly before blessing the tomb of the Ukrainian warrior. The ceremony took place in front of the monument and the tomb conceded to the Ukrainian State by the Patriarch of Alexandria, who signed the concession in the archontariki of the Greek Orthodox monastery.

At the same time, in the presence of Yevhen Mykytenko and his entourage, Patriarch Theodore inaugurated the new Gallery of the late Vaseilios Vaseiliou, a significant hagiographer who created many of the works that adorn Saint George Church.
