Australian High Commissioner Samuel Beever and Chrysostomos II of Cyprus

The Primate of the Church of Cyprus, Archbishop Chrysostomos, and the new High Commissioner of Australia in Cyprus, Samuel Beever, confirmed in their meeting the further upgrading and strengthening of the relations between the Church of Cyprus and the High Commission of Australia in Cyprus, today at the Holy Archdiocese of Cyprus.

At that meeting, which was the first after taking up his new duties, High Commissioner Beever discussed with Arcbishop Chrysostomos various issues of common interest, and mainly the national issue, the developments in recent months in the Eastern Mediterranean, as well as the current political and religious situation.

The Archbishop offered the new Australian High Commissioner a silver representation of the mosaic that decorates the great synodikon of the Metropolis of Paphos, which depicts the Christianization of proconsul Sergius Paulus by Apostles Paul and Barnabas.
