The new Ambassador of Sweden to Cyprus to Archbishop Chrysostomos

The further upgrading and strengthening of the relations between the Church of Cyprus and the Embassy of Sweden to Cyprus was confirmed by Archbishop Chrysostomos of Cyprus and the new Swedish ambassador, Anders Hagelberg, during their meeting today in the Holy Archbishopric of Cyprus.

At that meeting, which was the first after taking up his new duties, Ambassador Hagelberg discussed with Arcbishop Chrysostomos various issues of common interest, and mainly the national issue, the developments in recent months in the Eastern Mediterranean Sea, as well as the current political and religious situation.

The Archbishop offered the new ambassador of Sweden a silver representation of the mosaic that decorates the great synodikon of the Metropolis of Paphos, which depicts the Christianization of proconsul Sergius Paulus by Apostles Paul and Barnabas.

Salpy Weiderud, Coordinator of the Office of the Religious Track of the Cyprus Peace Process was present at the meeting.
