Patriarch Theophilos III of Jerusalem thanked King Abdullah II of Jordan on behalf of the Brotherhood of the Holy Sepulchre for covering the expenses related to the restoration of Jerusalem’s Holy Sepulchre.

The donation of King Abdullah II reportdely comes from the Templeton Prize sum, which the King received in November last year.

The King of Jordan fulfilled his promise that part of the prize would be given for the restoration of the Holy Sepulcher in Jerusalem.

It should be noted that this donation comes two years after the completion of the restoration of the Holy Sepulcher, also on the King’s expense, preceded by previous donations to restore the place where Jesus was baptized.

Patriarch Theophilos said that “this donation reflects the King’s personal commitment to the security and future of Jerusalem as the guardian of the Christian and Muslim holy sites in the city.”
