The Foreign Ministry conference on Religious and Ecclesiastical Diplomacy began (LIVE)

The two-day conference organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs begins today on the subject “Reflections of Principles of Policy and Strategic Drawing on Religious and Ecclesiastical Diplomacy”.

Seven sessions and more than 40 speakers from religious and ecclesiastical institutions operating in Greece will attempt to give clear answers to the practical application of Religious and Ecclesiastical Diplomacy.

At the opening of the two-day workshop, Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras, Archbishop Ieronymos II of Athens and All Greece, Foreign Minister Georgios Katrougalos, Deputy General Secretary of the World Council of Churches Prof. Ioan Sauca and General Secretary of the Council of European Churches Heiki Huttunen, will extend a welcome.

The keynote speaker, Markos Bolaris, will give a conference on “World Dialogue with Religions and Churches”. Special secretary for Religious and Cultural Diplomacy Efstathios Lianos-Liantis will speak on “Religion, Diplomacy and International Relations” and Minister-Counsellor in E2 Directorate for Religious and Ecclesiastical Affairs Konstantinos Danasis on “The history of Religious Diplomacy since the establishment the Greek State”.

Today’s sessions will focus on inter-Orthodox relations and on interfaith diplomacy.
