Egypt gives top priority to the importance of the Greek Orthodox monastery of St. Catherine.

The above statement was made by the Governor of South Sinai, General Khaled Fouda, while welcoming Greek Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Kostas Vlasis yesterday and emphasizing that “the first supporter of the Sinai Monastery is the Egyptian President, Abdel Fattah el-Sisi himself.”

“The Egyptian state has started a number of projects in the wider area of ​​Saint Catherine,” the Governor said.

“We have the monastery of St. Catherine in our hearts and we love all the monks. We have already begun to improve the entire road network in the area, we are planning to expand the area’s airport, we are preparing to build a large hotel, we want to expand religious tourism in the area and we are enhancing the security of the area. All these actions are under the auspices and the supervision of the Egyptian presidency,” Khaled Fouda underlined.
