On July 18, the enthronement of the new Metropolitan of Imvros and Tenedos by the Ecumenical Patriarch

On Saturday, July 18, 2020, at 12 noon, in the Holy Metropolitan Church of the Dormition of the Virgin, in Panagia Imvros, the enthronement of the new Metropolitan of Imvros, Cyril, will take place, by decision of the Ecumenical Patriarch.

In the evening of the same day, the Metropolitan of Imvros will officiate at the Great Vespers that will be performed, at 19:00, at the Church of Saint George, in Haghioi Theodoroi (Saints Theodores), the village of the Patriarch.

On Sunday, July 19, the Metropolitan of Imvros and Tenedos will preside over the Divine Liturgy, which will be celebrated at 8:30, at the Holy Metropolitan Church in Panagia, with the Ecumenical Patriarch.

The following weekend, July 25-26, the Metropolitan will accompany the Ecumenical Patriarch during his visit to the island of Tenedos to celebrate St. Paraskevi.

It is recalled that the Metropolitan was unanimously elected by the Holy and Sacred Synod of the Ecumenical Throne, at the suggestion of the Ecumenical Patriarch, on March 9. and from March 17, he settled in Imvros and took up his duties.

However, due to the pandemic, his official enthronement ceremony was postponed for a more appropriate time, as it was more important to implement all the precautionary measures indicated by the competent health authorities at that time.
