The delegation of the Greek Synodical Office met with the Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Rus’, on Wednesday, March 13.

The meeting was held at the Novospassky Monastery, near the center of Moscow, where the Patriarch participated in the Great Compline and the Reading of the Great Cannon, as is customary in Russian rite.

The Patriarch of Moscow met with the head and members of the delegation of the Church of Greece, Archimandrite Spyridon Katramados, accompanied by Polykarpos Efstathiou, who is the Head of Russia Turism Office in Moscow.

The Patriarch expressed his joy for the visit of the delegation and asked Archmandrite Spyridon to send his good wishes to the Archbishop Ieronymos of Athens and All Greece, the Members of the Hierarchy of the Church of Greece, and the Greek people.

He said: “The unity between the Church of Greece and Russia should be maintained, like the unity between the two peoples, under the blessing of Jesus. The two Churches must try to avoid those factors, which can be shown to have no connection with the Orthodox Church and Faith, and cause problems from time to time with the ultimate goal of achieving a division, with unpredictable consequences.”

In his part, Archimandrite Spyridon Katramados conveyed the wishes and the gratitude of the Archbishop Ieronimos of Athens, and the Holy Synod, for the reception of the Church of Russia on the occasion of the participation in the MITT exhibition.

At the end of the Great Compline, Patriarch Kirill spoke, citing the wish of Saint Ephrem the Syrian, “for the necessity of all believers to gain wisdom and humility in their lives and their work.”
