The Deaneary Summer Camp 2020 of the Archdiocese of Thyateira and Great Britain has been cancelled

After very careful consideration, with the blessing of Archbishop Nikitas and with a heavy heart, the Archdiocese of Thyateira and Great Britain announces with regret the cancellation of the Children’s Summer Camp in Wales this year.

As the communique says, this decision has not been taken lightly and has been reached after evaluating the potential health risks, unprecedented challenges and hazards children and adult vonlunteers would be exposed to during the current Covid-19 pandemic. In addition, the Archdiocese said that the logistics of maintaining a social distancing strategy would mean that the camp would lose its family atmosphere.

The camp has been running for some 45 years for children aged 9-16 from the Archdiocese’s parishes in the UK and occasionally from Europe. Therefore, the Deanery asks people to understand the sadness the organisers feel at having to make the decision to cancel this year, who thank all helpers and leaders who were due to be with them and everyone for their support and understanding at this difficult time.
