St. Peter’s Square is closed due to coronavirus outbreak

St. Peter’s Square and Basilica have been closed to tourists and guided tours because of the new virus outbreak. However, individual believers will be able to enter and pray in the church, Vatican authorities said today.

The announcement says that the Vatican is closing the post office on St. Peter’s Square, which attracts a large number of tourists, as well as the bookstore and photography service. A café for Vatican staff will also be closed. All measures will remain in effect until April 3.
