Solemn assurance of three newly elected Bishops of the Church of Greece

Metropolitans Symeon of Fthiotida, Ieronymos of Kalavryta and Aigialeia, and Ierotheos of Limnos and Agios Efstratios, who are recently elected, gave the solemn assurance to the President of the Republic, Prokopis Pavlopoulos, in the presence of Archbishop Ieronymos.

The government was represented by Deputy Foreign Minister Antonis Diamataris and Deputy Education Minister Vassilis Digalakis.

The Greek State imposes by law the solemn assurance of the priests, either clergy or hierarchs. This assurance shows the symbolic and legal dependence of the Church on the Greek State.
