Scientific Council of Tbilisi Theological Academy and Seminary held its session

On May 29, 2020, in the former residence courtyard of the Patriarchate of the Orthodox Church of Georgia, a meeting of the Scientific Council of Tbilisi Theological Academy and Seminary held its session.

It was presided by the Rector of this educational institution, PhD of Theology and Philology, Professor, Protopresbyter Giorgi Zviadadze. He presented a proposal to the members of the Scientific Council – to approve the procedure for awarding an honorary doctorate and to present this title to the Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia, Ilia II. The Council unanimously approved the proposal.

According to the agenda, the remarks provided by the members of the Scientific Council were discussed in detail, some of which were taken into account and approved unanimously by the Scientific Council:

The statute of the Doctorate Department and Dissertation Council of TTAS was considered for its preparation and submission to the Patriarch for his approval.

It was determined that electronic teaching would continue for another two weeks. The Scientific Council discussed the changes that accompany the current situation and decided that the graduate students would take the exams at the Theological Academy and Seminary in accordance with the regulations, while the rest of them would continue their studies remotely.

At the suggestion of the Rector of this educational institution and with the consent of the members of the Scientific Council, it was decided that Irakli Orzhonia and Tsotne Chkheidze, who were awarded the degree of Doctor of Theology by the Dissertation Council of Tbilisi Theological Academy and Seminary, become members of the TTAS Scientific Council.
