The ordination of Bishop Filotheos of Rogoi took place today at the Metropolitan Cathedral of Athens.

Hundreds of faithful had flocked to the Metropolitan Cathedral of Athens to attend the ordination ceremony.

In his speech, the newly elected Bishop of Rogoi referred to his acquaintance with Archbishop Ieronymos when both of them were serving in the Metropolis of Thebes and Levadeia, having served as protosyncellus.

He also referred to his spiritual relationship with the late Metropolitan of Nea Ionia, Timotheos Matthaiakis, as well as with the former Metropolitan of Nea Ionia, Konstantinos.

He spoke about the monastic state of Mount Athos, Elder Vasileios Gontikakis and the current Abbot of the Iviron Monastery, Elder Nathanael.

He also mentioned the late Archbishop Christodoulos who appointed him within the Synodical Services.

Archbishop Ieronymos emphasized that “At every moment of our lives, we share the same love for Jesus Christ that forges our identity over time.”

He stressed that as an Assistant Bishop of the Archdiocese of Athens he now assumes a new task, the management of institutions and love works.
