Open churches in Bulgaria – The services are also broadcast on the internet and radio

With the help of the internet and radio, the church services of Holy Week will reach the homes of Bulgarians, according to the country’s public radio (BNR).

“Believers overcome trials through prayer. Let us pray at home with sincere faith and hope in God,” the Holy Synod of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church called on Bulgarians.

Despite this, Orthodox churches remain open during Holy Week as well as on Easter Sunday, and church services are held in compliance with all the measures for the fight against coronavirus.

Strict measures are taken in all churches for the protection against coronavirus. In particular, disinfection is performed (icons and seats are disinfected, carpets and other objects have been removed), worshipers are required to wear protective masks and observe safety distances.

Priests who have even the slightest symptoms of malaise do not participate in the services. The presence of police officers who will be in charge of maintaining order and guaranteeing that the distances between the faithful will be observed will be strong.
