Newly-elected Abbot of Monastery of Panagia Chrysopigi was enthroned

The enthronement ceremony of the new Abbot of the Synodal-Stavropegial Monastery of Panagia Chrysopigi, Archimandrite Ephraim Panousis, was held on Tuesday afternoon in the presence of Archbishop Iernoymos of Athens and All Greece and hundreds of faithful.

Former Metropolitan of Piraeus Kallinikos, former Metropolitan of Kalavryta and Aigialeia Amvrosios, Metropolitans Evsevios of Samos and Ikaria, Ignatios of Dimitrias and Almyros, Konstantinos of Singapore, Georgios of Guineas as representative of Patriarch Theodore of Alexandria attended the enthronement ceremony.

The Archbishop sent his good wishes to the new Abbot on behalf of the members of the Holy Synod while making special reference to the brotherhood and describing the monastery as a spiritual castle. He spoke about the personality of the former Metropolitan of Piraeus Kallinikos and his contribution to the monastery.

Addressing Father Ephraim, the former Metropolitan of Piraeus, Kallinikos, emphasized, “I give you the monastery after years of sweat and toil” and told him to be a humble and faithful minister of the Church.

Then the new Abbot, Father Ephraim, thanked the Archbishop, the archpriests, the clergy and the laypeople, and in particular the former Metropolitan of Piraeus and the brothers who voted for him. He also thanked the volunteers who support the missionary work of the monastery.
