Monks in Mount Athos and Meteora unite their prayers against coronavirus

Mount Athos

Monks from both Mount Athos and Meteora are fighting against the threat of the pandemic of COVID-19 that plagues humanity, having as a unique “weapon” their prayer.

Today evening, Friday, March 27, 2020, a vigil for the coronavirus will be held at all the monasteries of Mount Athos and Meteora to the Virgin Mary and Saint Charalambos, who is the patron saint against epidemics. His sculp is kept in the holy monastery of Saint Stephen at Meteora.

In this way the monks will unite their prayers, asking Panagia to help and protect us from the coronavirus pandemic.

As it has been announced, tonight a procession of the relics and the miraculous icons of each monastery will be held on Mount Athos, and special prayers and supplications will be read in Meteora for the support of those fighting at the front line against the coronavirus.

It should be noted that pilgrims will not be allowed to enter and the services will be held behind closed doors.
