Metropolitan of Larissa: They must realize that the Tsar era is gone for good

Metropolitan of Larissa

Metropolitan Ieronymos of Larissa calls on Russian Church officials to realize that both the Tsar and the Soviet eras are irreversibly gone, and to assume their responsibilities as ecclesiastical shepherds away from political agendas.

In a rare comprehensive interview at orthodoxia.info the Metropolitan, who first called on the Hierarchy to consider that they could not put the Ukrainian issue to the vote, “speaks out”, revealing that there is an intense propaganda against the Church of Greece.

“Some ecclesiastical administrations have forgotten the word ‘ecclesiastical’ and have focused on ‘administrations’ in complete coordination, of course, with their Governments,” the Metropolitan of Larissa notes, while condemning and considering “unacceptable to play with Full Communion, impetuously, without examining things in depth, and by declaring excommunication.”

The Metropolitan of Larissa explains the full rationale and the arguments behind the decision of the Hierarchy of the Church of Greece considering Moscow’s attitude towards Athens as “a confession of guilt and evidence of adopting practices of obfuscating the truth.”
