Holy Fire to arrive in Athens with plain ceremony, it will not be distributed

The Holy Fire will arrive in Athens and will be received only by Deputy Foreign Minister Kostas Vlasis at the airport in the presence of a small honorary military detachment.

As it became officially known, at noon on Holy Saturday, “a special Aegean Airlines flight to Tel Aviv is scheduled from Greece.

Only the Exarch of the Holy Sepulcher, Archbishop Damianos, and one of his assistants will be on board. No one will disembark from the airplane. A car of the Greek consulate will be at the airport of Israel in order to deliver the Holy Fire to the delegation.

Upon the arrival of the Holy Fire to Greece “there will be a small event, as befits our times.”

The arrival of the Holy Fire will be televised, however, this year, there will be no distribution across the country.
