Holy and Sacred Synod of the Ecumenical Patriarchate convenes today

The three-day proceedings of the Holy and Sacred Synod of the Ecumenical Patriarchate begin today at Saint Trinity Monastery in Halki.

According to the announcement, Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew returned from Imvros to the Phanar yesterday, to go to Halki to accompany the Synodical Hierarchs, where the Synod would begin.

It is worth noting that the beginning of the Ecumenical Patriarchate’s Synod comes one day after the completion of the proceedings of the Standing Holy Synod of the Church of Greece.

The Standing Holy Synod of the Church of Greece yesterday acknowledged to the Ecumenical Patriarch the right to issue the status of Autocephaly to the Church of Ukraine, as well as the privilege of Archbishop Ieronymos of Athens, to further address the issue of recognition of Autocephaly of the Ukrainian Church.
