Greek President: The role of the Church in encouraging the flock amid a pandemic is important

The important role of the Church in the encouragement and guidance of the flock in the midst of a pandemic, was emphasized by the President of the Hellenic Republic Aikaterini Sakellaropoulou during her communication with the Archbishops Ieronymos of Athens and All Greece, and Anastasios of Tirana, Durres and All Albania.

The President of the Republic thanked them for their support to the faithful during this difficult period, emphasizing how important the role of the Church is for the encouragement and guidance of the flock in the midst of a pandemic. At the same time, Ms. Sakellaropoulou wished the two hierarchs this Easter to be the starting point for the healing of humanity’s wounds and its Resurrection through light.

For his part, Archbishop Ieronymos referred to the difficult times that humanity is experiencing due to coronavirus, noting that we must not lose hope and faith.

Archbishop Anastasios pointed out how timely the message of Holy Week is, expressing the certainty that universal solidarity will defeat the pandemic and its side effects.
