Greek Minister of Education and Religious Affairs: We acted responsibly to protect the faithful

Minister of Education Niki Kerameus

The Minister of Education and Religious Affairs, Niki Kerameus, gave her own response on the issue of the anathema, with which she, the Prime Minister, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, and the Deputy Minister of Civil Protection, Nikos Hardalias, were struck by the former Metropolitan Ambrosios of Kalavrita.

The Minister of Education, speaking to ANT1’s channel main news bulletin and the journalist Nikos Hatzinikolaou, in a related question of the journalist about how she comments on the anathema of the former Metropolitan, stated that “everyone can say and do whatever they believe is right. I know that we have always acted responsibly in order to protect public health and the public interest, and to protect the faithful of every doctrine, despite the extraordinary difficulty and the very unpleasant impact of the whole project.”

Ms. Kerameus clarified that “I have a clear conscience, the rest does not concern me.” She concluded by saying that “we must not allow some extreme positions and actions to tarnish the climate and all these important things that we have all claimed together.”
