Greece: Those violating measures for preventing the spread of coronavirus will be prosecuted, supreme court says

Areios Paghos (Supreme Court) prosecutor Vassilis Pliotas on Thursday sent a circular to all the country’s prosecutors asking them to immediately intervene when there is any violation of measures to prevent the spread of coronavirus.

Pliotas noted that article 285 of the Penal Code foresees stiff penalties for those who violate the measures ordered to prevent the spread of a dangerous disease.

Specifically, the prosecutor said “with this behaviour they harm or place at risk fundamentally protected legal goods, as are life and physical health,” adding that “your intervention when there is legal cause is self evident”.
