President of the Hellenic Republic Prokopios Pavlopoulos attended in the morning the Great Blessing of the Waters at the port of Piraeus.

Archbishop Ieronymos of Athens and all Greece celebrated the Eucharist at the Holy Cathedral of Agia Triada in Piraeus, which was concelebrated by Metropolitan Seraphim of Piraeus.

The Metropolitan of Piraeus thanked the Archbishop for being present and noted, “We celebrate today the victory against mendacious arguments and obsession and the establishment of a new State, which was offered by God to us. He introduced the values, such as freedom, dignity, humility, meekness, which characterise the Living God.”

Then, they headed with a procession to the port of Piraeus, where the Archbishop of Athens performed the Blessing of the Waters. The Holy Cross was cast into the water and men of the Greek navy dove in to catch it.
