Ecumenical Patriarch to visit Switzerland and Germany in coming days

Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew departed for Geneva on Saturday at noon, accompanied by Deacon Mr. Paisios, Director of the Private Patriarchal Office.

The Ecumenical Patriarch, at the invitation of Dr. William F. Vendley, General Secretary of the International Inter-Religious Organization “Religions for Peace” (RfP) will attend and give a speech at the opening ceremony of the 10th General Assembly of the Organization, in Lindau, Germany.

The theme of the convention will be “Caring for our Common Future – Advancing Shared Well-Being”, and will also be addressed by the President of the Federal Republic of Germany, Frank-Walter Steinmeir, as well as religious leaders and representatives of Governments and International Organizations.

During his short stay in Germany, the Ecumenical Patriarch will be accompanied by the German Metropolitan Avgoustinos of Germany, Metropolitan Emmanuel of  France and Metropolitan Maximos of Switzerland.

It should be also mentioned that the Ecumenical Patriarch will return to Constantinople on Wednesday, August 21.
