Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew had the opportunity to meet remotely the students of a school on Crete and spoke from the Phanar about his predecessor, Saint Gregory V, Patriarch of Constantinople.

The Primate of Orthodoxy met the students of the E2 department of the 8th Primary School of Chania last April at the e-classes held due to the lockdown, responding to their invitation to talk about the martyrdom of Patriarch Gregory V on April 11, the day the Church celebrates his memory.

As stated on the school’s website, “After the Divine Liturgy and on an emotionally charged day, our Ecumenical Patriarch remembered his childhood days on such a day at the small school he attended, gave us his blessings, and invited us to visit him in Constantinople. We, in turn, thanked him warmly for accepting our invitation and spending some of his valuable time and invited him to visit us at our premises in Chania as well.”
