Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew

As soon as he was informed of the tragic car accident that occurred in the region of Mtskheta-Mtianeti that cost the life of seventeen of our fellow human beings and left three people injured, Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew sent a message of condolences to the primate of the Georgian Orthodox Church, Catholicos-Patriarch Ilia II, expressing the pain and sympathy of the Mother Church and of himself personally.

“As we pray, we turn the eyes of the soul to you and to the pious flock of the sister Church of Georgia, and we express the deep sympathy of the Ecumenical Patriarchate and the Ecumenical Patriarch. May the Lord repose the souls of those who died unjustly, comfort the hearts of their families, offer consolation to them and to the long-suffering Georgian people, with whom we are bound by strong and incomprehensible bonds of love and solidarity with the Church of Constantinople,” said the Ecumenical Patriarch.
