Ecumenical Patriarch arrived at The Netherlands

The Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew arrived at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol on Tuesday noon, November 5, 2019.

The Head of Orthodoxy will be on a two-day visit to central Europe as part of the Golden Jubilee celebrations of the Holy Metropolis of Belgium and the Exarchate of the Netherlands and Luxembourg.

Metropolitan of Belgium and Exarch of The Netherlands and Luxembourg, Athinagoras, the Ambassador of Greece to the Netherlands, Nikolaos Plexidas, and the Archieratic Commissioner to the Netherlands, Protopresbyter Ioannis Psomas, welcomed the Ecumenical Patriarch at the airport.

During the first days of his trip to the Benelux, the Ecumenical Patriarch is accompanied by Metropolitans Iosif of Proikonisos and Damaskinos of Kydonia and Apokorona, Archimandrite Alexios from Xenofontos Monastery, Patriarchal Deacon-in-Line Kallinikos, and Petro Bazgarlo.

On Tuesday afternoon, the Ecumenical Patriarch attended the closing ceremony of one major international conference which took place these days in Amsterdam entitled “Amsterdam International Water Week 2019”, and took the floor.
