The bishop of the alleged “Macedonian Church” cherishes hopes that the schismatic Church of Skopje will be the next one to be granted the Tomos of Autocephaly by the Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople.
According to his statements to the informational website mkd.mk, Bishop Timothy of the schismatic Church of Skopje stressed that the Church turns its hope to the Ecumenical Patriarchate.
He added that they will not rush to recognize Ukraine’s autocephalous Church and that views on whether Church of Ukraine’s recognition should be linked to the efforts of recognition of the schismatic church of Skopje by the Ecumenical Patriarchate, are divided.
As a matter of fact, regarding the name of the church, the schismatic Bishop said that they will not accept to change name, underlining that “Prespes agreement does not compel us to change our name. The church is not funded by the state budget. We are not changing the name.”
