Archbishop of Cyprus demands govt should be strict with restrictive measures

Archbishop Chrysostomos of Cyprus

The Archbishop of Cyprus demands that the government should be more strict with incidents that fail to comply with the restrictive measures while commenting on the incidents that have taken place in the last few days in nightclubs and on the violations of quarantine restrictions.

Speaking to CyBC, the primate of the Church of Cyprus stressed that “we must be strict with ourselves and the others. We also call on the government to be strict. If we do not succeed in getting the virus out of Cyprus, we will not progress. Cyprus must remain clean. The people must continue steadfastly with their work.

Only in that way can we achieve a better result in tourism. Even those who come from abroad must be checked by the government and if they transmit the virus, they must be quarantined, treated and then released in our homeland. We need to be as strict as possible so that we can overcome all the difficulties arising from coronavirus,” he concluded.
