The assurance that “we will not let anyone go hungry” was given by Archbishop Sotirios of Canada, speaking to the “National Herald” about the situation in Canada due to the coronavirus.

Despite the fact that Canada has very good social assistance programs, the Archbishop stressed that “our Holy Archdiocese helps those in need through its social services and sections of the Philoptochos Council” and reiterated that “we will not let anyone go hungry”.

It is stressed that Canada has not been hit hard by the coronavirus, while the cases among the Greek Diaspora are few, as the Archbishop said.

The planned ecclesiastical events have been postponed, including the ordinations of the three voted Auxiliary Bishops, whilst the graduation ceremonies of the Theological Academy to be held in May have been postponed to October.

The Archbishop stressed that “classes are held normally through the internet”.
