The chiefs of the Hellenic Armed Forces paid a customary visit to the Archbishop today.

The Chief of the Hellenic National Defence General Staff, Gen. Konstantinos Floros, the Chief of the Hellenic Army General Staff, Lt. Gen. Charalampos Lalousis, the Chief of the Hellenic Navy General Staff, Vice Admiral Stylianos Petrakis, and the Chief of the Hellenic Air Force General Staff, Air Mshl Georgios Mplioumis, met Archbishop Ieronymos of Athens and all Greece, emphasizing that “the Armed Forces are ready not only for their mission itself, but also to promote the right of public security. The Armed Forces provide assistance wherever they can, whether it is natural disasters or refugee issues.”

“We all know that the Hellenic Armed Forces and the Church are present every day in all aspects of public life, and it is always the blessing of the Church that protects the Armed Forces in their duty, that is, to provide security to Greek society and the Greek people,” the Chief of the General Staff said immediately after the meeting.

“Pride, safety, and security; this is what we feel,” the Archbishop said, noting that “in every liturgy we always pray to God to give the Armed Forces strength and courage and to be healthy for our comfort and salvation of our homeland.”
