Archbishop Makarios visited Alphington Grammar School

Archbishop Makarios of Australia was particularly pleased while being among the young pupils of the Alphington Grammar School kindergarten. The school is celebrating 30 years of successful course in the field of education this year. It was founded in 1989 by the Greek Community of Melbourne.

Archbishop Makarios was warmly welcomed at the Alphington Grammar School, which is located in the central suburb of Alphington. The head of the school, Vivian Nikou, and the two deputy principals welcomed the Archbishop.

The Archbishop was accompanied by two assistant bishops, Ezekiel Dervis and Jacob Miletopoulos, as well as other clergy and representatives of the Australian Archdiocese.

Archbishop Makarios visited the school wing where the kindergarten and primary school are housed. He stayed with the young children for quite some time and played with them.

He was particularly interested in the school’s pedagogical approach, the students’ interests, the teaching methods and the school curricula.
