Archbishop Makarios of Australia attended Cretan Association anniversary in Sydney

Archbishop Makarios of Australia participated with great joy and excitement in the 60th anniversary of the Cretan Association of Sydney. The event took place on Saturday, November 16, in the Parish of Saints Raphael, Nikolas and Eirini, in the suburb of Liverpool.

The younger members of the Association welcomed the Archbishop dressed in traditional Cretan costumes.

Archbishop Makarios talked with them and gave his blessing to those who attended the event while reassuring the members of the Cretan Association that he would now be standing by their side.

Archbishop Makarios was honored and blessed to be among hundreds of his compatriots, people coming from the place where he was born and raised.

Subsequently, he was delighted that in distant Australia, where he is the shepherd of the Archdiocese, he was very fortunate to be surrounded by people who made him feel even closer to Crete.
