Archbishop Ieronymos of Athens and All Greece expressed his deepest condolences for the tragic loss of lives due to yesterday’s exceptional natural disasters. “We pray for the repose of the souls of the innocent victims,” said Archbishop of Greece expressing his deep condolences to their relatives.
He stressed that these natural phenomena had spiritual and moral causes, and human activity caused the wasteful use of natural resources, the air pollution, and ultimately the climate change.
On the occasion of the tragic incident, the Archbishop made us think that we must respect the environment, since humankind is the “housekeeper” and not the creator of the world. He underlined that we had the duty to hand the natural goods that the Creator entrusted to us to the future generations.
