Archbishop Ieronymos of Athens and all Greece officiated the sanctification service at the 39th-141st primary schools and 97th Kindergarten in Athens. Deputy Minister of Education and Religious Affairs, Sofia Zacharaki, also attended the service.

“Dear children, we are here with you today at the celebration, in this good beginning. We have come to celebrate the beginning of your school year and to officiate the sanctification service,” said Archbishop Ieronymos.

The Archbishop sent his message, “There is not only human wisdom but also the wisdom coming from the communication between human and God. We want you to receive both the human wisdom that comes out of these schools and the wisdom that comes from above. This is what our school, our state, our family and our church is striving for. We want you to be gifted and enlightened, to lead your life with those gifts,” the Archbishop added.

“We want you to give your best as the most important word is effort,” urged the students during her speech the Deputy Minister of Education and Religious Affairs, Sofia Zacharaki. She added, “I know that you are young, the first day at the kindergarten with a great appetite to learn things. First of all, I want you to give your best this year. The most important word is effort.”
